Roopkund in Uttarakhand is known for its Skeleton Lake. In 1942, about 600 skeletons were discovered in the area by a park ranger. The skeletons were believed to be of people who lived between 12th to 15th century. Whitechapel in London was the place where serial murders were committed in 1888-91 by a killer referred to as ‘Jack The Ripper’. The victims were always women and most of them were prostitutes.‘Raaz 2’ will mainly be shot in these three locations. And the very thought of shooting at these places is giving jitters to our serial kisser.

"NAYI ROSHNI"A film in Garhwali dialect has been produced by Sheetal Jayara Images and Gangotri Films. "Nai Roshni" is an effort to sensitize the public to the issue of Girl Child. This has its origin in the mind set of the majority of Indian society which prefer a son to a daughter. The population in the hills of Uttarakhand also have the same mind set. Nai Roshni is the story of a girl, craving for the affection of her father. The father, consider her unlucky as a son did not born after Roshni's birth. Even after the birth of sons he do not change his attitude and showers his affection on his sons and always neglects Roshni.The fils is also the story of a grandmother who fights for the rights of her grand daughter. Third woman in the story is the mother of Roshni, who silently suffers and dies.Roshni the heroine of the film is from Kotdwar. The suiting is done in and around Kotdwara. Uttarakhand to reserve 50 pc seats for women in panchayats..Pauri Garhwal Group..!!

Dehradun (PTI): The BJP government in Uttarakhand plans to bring in a law that provides 50 per cent reservation for women in Panchayats.
A formal announcement to this effect is likely to be made in the current budget session of the Vidhan Sabha, official sources said here on Thursday.
"We are going to reserve 50 per cent seats for women under the Panchayati Raj system," a top official said.
But the official refused to divulge more information over the issue saying a detail statement would be made in the house shortly. "We have almost finalized everything regarding this," he said.
Women are having 33 per cent reservation in the Panchayati Raj system under the 73rd amendment. However, it was not yet known whether the government would bring similar kind of reservation in urban bodies too.
Women have played a big role in the statehood agitation of 1990s that saw the birth of new state of Uttarakhand on Nov 9, 2000. Besides, various social groups have been exerting pressure on the government for 50 per cent reservation for women.
"We feel it is a big victory for women in Uttarakhand," said Avdhash Kaushal, Chairperson of RLEK, a Dehradun-based NGO working for the women empowerment in the country.
Kaushal, whose NGO is also working actively in Jharkhand, also claimed that Chief Minister has agreed to reserve 50 per cent seats for women in Uttarakhand".
Significantly, BJP recently made provision for 33 per cent reservation for women in the party's structure.
